03/09/2020- The sampling of dozens of private wells throughout Marinette County for PFAS contamination gets underway this month. Representatives with Tyco provided that update in a letter to residents about the local contamination investigation and clean up efforts. The Company said they have entered into an agreement with the Wisconsin DNR to begin to process of testing potable wells near 61 agricultural fields in the County where contaminated biosolids from Marinette’s wastewater treatment facility were applied. The results of that testing are expected to be submitted to the DNR in May. The DNR has also requested Tyco expand their PFAS investigation area around their Fire Technology Center. Tyco says they remain in conversation with the DNR about that matter.
