12/24/2018- A $159000 grant will support work to prevent the spread of invasive species along Lake Michigan in Menominee County and throughout the UP. The money comes from Michigan’s Invasive Species Grant Program hosted by the MDEQ, Michigan DNR and Department of Agriculture and Rural Development. The local project involves the collaboration of three UP Cooperative Invasive Species Management Areas to survey for invasive species in high-risk and high-priority sites within 20-miles of the Lake Michigan shore and incorporate invasive species identification and prevention efforts in other area outreach programs. In total, Michigan awarded $3.6-million to 30 invasive species projects statewide.
