While some of the details have yet to be worked out, the local UW campus is now officially a part of UW-Green Bay. The merger of UW-Marinette, UW-Manitowoc, and UW-Sheboygan took effect July 1st as part of a restructuring of the entire UW-System. The 16-county footprint of the new UWGB includes almost half of Wisconsin’s coastline and has a projected enrollment of about 7700 students. Students at each of the two-year campuses, including Marinette’s, will have access to UWGB’s undergrad and graduate-level programs. The consolidation of all University of Wisconsin two-year campuses was proposed last November. Under the restructuring, these 13 campuses formerly known as UW Colleges were joined as branch campuses with seven of the UW System’s four-year institutions. The complete restructuring process will likely not be complete until June of 2020.
