UW – Green Bay Assistant Vice Chancellor Christopher C. Paquet recently provided Marinette County Administrator John Lefebvre with an update of what their plans are for the UWGB – Marinette Campus. Bay Cities Radio obtained the document via email from Lefebvre. Over the last several weeks, UWGB has received feedback from stakeholders, community members, and the City of Marinette and Marinette County about future Marinette campus operations and how UW – Green Bay can best support the community. Based on the work of the UWGB workgroup, they have been developing a transition plan for the Marinette Campus, which included an assessment of the need for space use following the University’s decision to change how they would adjust their operations. A plan is developed which will allow the University to move all operations into the Herbert L. Williams Theater Building and still provide support for university programming, such as the Lifelong Learning Institute, continuing education and camps; continue to provide network and technological support to regional students and points of access to virtual services for the University; and continue to develop events and programming to Marinette County and the surrounding communities. Soon, there could be some clarity regarding whether the County will retain ownership of the campus or transfer ownership to the City of Marinette. UW- Green Bay are considering two plans which will allow them to continue making available distance education classrooms under different scenarios. During the month of April, UW – Green Bay Chancellor Alexander will be visiting each of their locations to meet with faculty and staff at each location to make sure they are providing updates, hearing concerns, and answering questions.
