The kick-off to what may be Menominee’s biggest event of the year is just a few days away. The 2018 Waterfront Festival runs August 2nd through the 5th in Downtown Menominee. The event has been held for more than three decades and Festival Director Nancy Douglas says none of it would be possible without the support and donations from the local community.
The Waterfront Festival begins Thursday, August 2nd, with a Children’s Parade at 4:00 PM. Friday will feature the M-and-M Yacht Club Sailboat Race. Saturday there will be 5K and 10K races in the morning, the Fincantieri Marinette Marine Dinghy Dash in the afternoon, and fireworks in the evening, and the entire event culminates Sunday with a parade beginning at noon.
In addition to all the activities planned, there will also be numerous local and regional musical acts performing each day. The entire event schedule and additional information can be found online at waterfrontfestival.info.

Volunteers who will be serving alcohol, checking IDs, or selling tickets at this year’s Waterfront Festival in Menominee are asked to attend either of two training sessions being held Tuesday, July 31st at Menominee City Hall. The training will cover legal drinking age, acceptable forms of identification, and ticket and wrist band booth procedures. The sessions will be held at 1:00 and 6:00 PM Tuesday in the council chambers.
