11/26/2019- Although most highway construction has wrapped up for the year, Thanksgiving holiday travelers will still need to monitor the weather, watch for deer and deer hunters, and be prepared for the potential of heavy traffic along key travel corridors. Traffic safety officials with the Wisconsin DOT expect peak travel periods to occur between noon and 8 p.m. on Wednesday and again on Sunday when hunters and holiday travelers return home. In Wisconsin, more than 1.1 million people will be traveling for the holiday weekend- a 2.9% increase from 2018- and of those travelers, more than 1 million will be driving. Motorists are reminded to buckle up, watch their speed, and be patient and alert on the roadway.
