09/30/2019- Area kids are expected to hit the pavement this week as part of a national event to promote health and safe routes to school. Walk and Bike to School Day is October 2nd and both Marinette and Menominee School Districts are taking part. Parents, school and local officials, and public health representatives will join together to celebrate the benefits of getting active with activities planned on both sides of the river. In Menominee, participants are encouraged to meet at the Menominee High School Track at 7:25 a.m. and will then make the trek to Central School with teachers and Maroon Athletes. Meanwhile in Marinette, individual events are planned at Merryman, Garfield and Park Elementary Schools, each of which begin at 7:30. Drivers are asked to keep an eye out for students walking or biking to or from school.
