Ready for a classic Michigan winter outdoor experience? How about the annual Winter Free Fishing Weekend, be held this year on Saturday and Sunday, February 19th, and 20th. Sierra Williams, Communications Representative with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources Fishery division says, “those days residents and non-residents can fish without a license and all other fishing regulations still apply.”
Williams says, “some ice fishing safety is key to keep up ahead on.”
Williams says, “it’s always a good idea to check the safety tips before heading out on the ice.” You can find those tips at Michigan dot gov slash fishing (Michigan.gov/fishing). Anyone of any age can join in on the free fishing weekend; residents or non-residents. With three-thousand miles of great lake’s shoreline, tens of thousands of miles of rivers and streams, and eleven-thousand miles of lakes, you will have a successful ice fishing weekend.
