01/30/2020- The Wisconsin 2020 Spring Primary is just weeks away and the Wisconsin DMV wants to be sure everyone has the identification necessary to cast their ballot. Valid IDs for voting purposes include a driver license, identification card, or a military or student ID card, and a federally-compliant REAL ID card is not required for voting purposes. To obtain identification to show at the polls, residents can go to wisconsindmv.gov to get a list of the required documents to bring to a DMV Customer Service Center. If the required documents needed are readily available, the DMV has a process, called the Voter ID Petition Process, which is available free of charge, and can be used to quickly obtain a receipt valid to take to the polls for voting while the remaining documents or verifications are obtained. The statewide Spring Primary takes place February 18th.
