02/10/2020- Local students are learning more about natural gas safety through a series of presentations by Wisconsin Public Service. WPS is taking a hands-on approach to help students across their service area by visiting schools and providing demonstrations that use special tools and displays to help students understand what natural gas is, how it reaches homes and businesses, and how to use it safely. Safety precautions highlighted during these events include calling 811 before beginning any digging projects, recognizing the presence of carbon monoxide, and understanding ways to stay safe if a natural gas leak occurs. Among those receiving the presentations this month are students at Crivitz Elementary School and Oconto Middle School. These presentations, part of WPS’ ongoing commitment to safety, have reached thousands of students over the past several years.
