A plume of smoke was seen over the community of Stephenson, Michigan yesterday afternoon as a fire broke out at the Menominee County Road Commission Building – Stephenson Office. The call came in at approximately 4:06 pm as smoke was being sighted. Jen Bastian, Public Information Officer for the Stephenson Volunteer Fire Department says, “when our firefighters arrived on scene there certainly was smoke.”

Bastien says, “we are a part of the Mutual Aid Box Alarm System so we pulled a MABAS card for this event.”

Also assisting at the scene were the Local 114 County Rescue, Stephenson’s local EMS agency, and Menominee County Sheriff’s Office. Ventilation efforts are currently underway to remove the smoke from the building. Menominee County will be assessing the damage further themselves. The cause of the vehicle fire is undetermined at this time.
