Michael Joseph Egan, 53, of Gainsville, Florida has been charged by the Menominee County Prosecuting Attorney, Jeffrey Rogg, with False Report or Threat of Terrorism. The offense is a felony is punishable by up to 20-years in prison. According to court documents, on September 5th, a concerned citizen reported to Menominee County Sheriff (MCSO) personnel that, when the citizen arrived at the Menominee County Courthouse at 8:55am, that a man later identified as Egan had aggressively approached the citizen in the parking lot and stated that the ‘county stole my wife, family, van.’ And was there to ‘effing shoot everyone.’ The citizen further reported that Egan then stated he was ‘going to shoot Menominee County Prosecuting Attorney Jeff Rogg in-between the eyes.’ The citizen further reported that when Egan made this state, he made a gesture with his finger imitating a pistol, and put his hand within four inches of the citizen’s face. A MCSO Deputy assigned to the courthouse security reported that Egan fled the parking lot in a white Dodge pick-up Truck. Egan was eventually located and arrested by the Marinette Police Department. Egan is being in the Marinette County jail, and awaiting extradition to Michigan. Prosecutor Rogg has filed a Motion to Revoke the $5,000 cash/surety bond Egan is presently subject to for a July 26th, 2023, arrest for Fleeing and Eluding and Reckless Driving, in the 95-A District Court. A Preliminary Examination is scheduled in that matter on September 11th at 3pm.
